Rumormill: BMW 8 Series on the way, no M-version Planned as of Now

05:32, 2008-Sep-5 .. 0 comments .. Link

The all new BMW 8-Series has taken the wraps off the CS Concept - a new four-door-coupe designed to tackle the Mercedes CLS, Porsche Panamera, and Maserati Quattro Porte. The car is likely a preview of the rumored 8-Series revival.

The debut of the CS Concept follows a report by Auto Zeitung that claimed BMW would launch a four-door coupe using the 8-Series designation, starting with a new 850i. BMW offered an 8-Series in the 1990s, with the V12 850Ci delivering 326 horsepower. A less expensive 840i delivered 286 hp. While V12 power is not a certainty for a new 8-Series, BMW does have a V12 engine from its 760i sedan at its disposal.

The CS Concept is a unique four-door car, which combines the exclusivity of a genuine luxury Gran Turismo with the fascinating thrill of a high-performance sports car. BMW Concept CS is appropriately reflected by all the car's interior features, the design of the interior and the various technical innovations interacting perfectly with one another. The design of the interior is indeed just as unique as the character and body design of this one-off sporting four-seater, offering all the occupants a brand-new experience of aesthetic style and design. Measuring 5.10 metres or 200.8 inches in length, the BMW Concept CS is dominated by dynamically flowing lines. From the BMW kidney grille standing out powerfully to the front, the eyes of the beholder move back along the low-slung and sleek engine compartment lid, subsequently meandering along the side-line and roof-line all the way to the deliberately short rear-end with its clear-cut air flow spoiler. The dynamically stretched silhouette of the car proudly boasts a wide range of features typical of the character of a particularly sporting, avant-garde automobile. The sporting, low-slung silhouette of the car is further accentuated by body height of just 1.36 metres. The BMW Concept CS presents the vision of an automobile proudly offering all its qualities to the driver.

Paris Preview: Officially Official, Honda’s new hybrid is the Insight!

09:49, 2008-Sep-4 .. 0 comments .. Link

Honda revealed the name and the first official images of its new small hybrid vehicle that goes on sale next spring. The car will revive the name of the first hybrid gas-electric car introduced in the United States: the Honda Insight. The new five door hatchback “Prius Killer” will be the most direct competitor yet for Toyota’s iconic hybrid.

"The original Honda Insight pioneered hybrid technology in the US and remains a symbol of Honda's commitment to innovative technology and fuel efficiency," said Takeo Fukui, Honda CEO. "This new Insight will break new ground as an affordable hybrid within the reach of customers who want great fuel economy and great value."

In September 2006, Honda stopped making the Honda Insight, a teardrop-shaped two-seater—widely perceived as impractical by consumers. Despite real-world fuel economy approaching 70 miles per gallon, the company sold fewer than 2,000 Insights in 2005, and fewer than 1,000 units through September of 2006.

The new Honda Insight, which goes on sale in the US in April, is expected to sell in relatively high quantities. Honda is targeting annual global sales of 200,000 units per year, with approximately 100,000 in North America. Honda is aiming for affordability with the new Insight, which is expected to sell for approximately $19,000—several thousand dollars below the Honda Civic Hybrid and Toyota Prius. At the same time, the new hybrid should match or exceed the fuel economy of those vehicles. The new Honda Insight will be unveiled at the 2008 Paris International Auto Show in early October.

The new Honda Insight will be more practical than the earlier Insight. It’s a five-door hatchback with ample room for five passengers. The aerodynamic design borrows elements from Honda’s FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicle, and bears resemblance to the Toyota Prius’s iconic hatchback profile. Along with Honda’s Civic Hybrid, the new vehicle will be produced at an expanded hybrid vehicle production line at the Suzuka factory in Japan.

New Shots of Corvette Centennial Concept Surface

12:00, 2008-Sep-4 .. 0 comments .. Link

To all of those who have seen the new Transformers movie, you might all be wondering what futuristic “Corvette-like” car was that car featured in the movie.  There has been much speculation of late on the gleaming silver "Corvette-like" concept car spotted on the set of the new Transformers movie. Some outlets have incorrectly asserted the concept is a potential design for a next-generation C7 Corvette. They're wrong. Oh, it's a Corvette, but our well-placed sources tell us the concept, which we've revealed in an exclusive shot of the clay concept above, is GM's Corvette Centennial Design Concept. We expect to see it revealed early next year, months before it debuts on the silver screen in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

This shot of the Corvette Centennial Concept comes courtesy of our friends over at Jalopnik who have a few more in their own gallery. For those of you living under a rock, the Corvette Centennial Concept is both a tribute to General Motors' 100-year history and a budding young actor on the Hollywood stage with a bit part in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. It is not, we repeat not, a production car, a concept intended to hint at the future design direction of the Corvette or any such thing, at least as far as we know. Being a flight of fancy concept, however, doesn't take away from its inherent coolness. The view from the rear is particularly mind blowing as you can see the split rear window, incredibly sculpted rear fenders and nuevo Sting Ray badge. We're not sure when the actual car will be revealed, but GM is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this month. Then again, the official debut might also coincide with the release of the Transformers sequel in 2009. We'll have to wait and see.

2009 Honda Legend Unveiled at the Moscow Motor Show

11:07, 2008-Sep-2 .. 0 comments .. Link

It was about time that Honda releases an “upgrade” of its flagship design, the Honda Legend, or better yet known as Acura RL in the American market.

Both the European and soon to be Japanese version of the Legend and the Acura RL, receive the same design with the exception of a more consensual front grill on the European version.
Anyway Honda powered our beast with a new 3.7l V6 engine which gives more torque at low speed as well as lover CO2 emissions and improved fuel efficiency. Honda also worked on a revised automatic gearbox with faster shift times and more responsive paddle-shift.

Press Release

At the 2008 Moscow motor show, Honda has revealed the look of the re-styled Honda Legend to Europe. This revised model gives a new edge to the top of the range Honda and responds to customer feedback on the current model. The most noticeable change is to the exterior style of the Honda Legend, with new lights, bonnet, front wings, boot lid, bumpers and the adoption of standard 18″ wheels.

Under the restyled bonnet is one of the most powerful V6 engines in this sector, giving the power of a V8 engine, while retaining the smoothness and fuel economy inherent to this layout.

The new engine has an additional 200cc that helps to give the new Honda Legend greater torque across the whole rev range. Complementing this increase in capacity the 3.7 litre V6 has VTEC added to the exhaust valves, joining the system already fitted on the inlet side. These realised a 20% increase in torque in the mid-range. The result is an enhancement to the feeling of power, as well as the improved acceleration.

Coupled to this revised engine, is an all-new 5-speed gearbox that helps the driver exploit and enjoy the revised power unit. The new box has switched to a straight gate and empowers the driver with additional control over gear selection with revised steering wheel mounted paddle-shifters and new gearbox software. The new transmission reacts faster to changes in driver input even in the normal automatic mode and so gives the driver access to power when it’s most needed.

The combined effects of the improved transmission and increase in torque mean that the new Honda Legend can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than before. Fuel economy and CO2 have also improved over the previous model, despite the improved acceleration performance.

Central to the concept of the 2006 Honda Legend is the cabin refinement which reduces the stress of modern motoring. This theme has been taken a stage further with the new car by equipping it with a suite of NVH reducing technologies. The most advanced of these is the Active Noise Cancellation system (ANC), which cancels out low frequency noise by playing the opposite wave form through the Bose sound system. New to the flagship is a new form of sound deadening mat that has improved noise reducing properties and is lighter than conventional materials. An acoustic windscreen and improved bushing complete these improvements to the already very refined Honda flagship.

Safety is a cornerstone of the Honda Legend, and adds Active Head Restraints to its already impressive safety equipment. The new head restraints are similar in principle to the items found in the Honda Civic and Honda Accord models and compliment the reassuring ACE (Advanced Compatibility Engineering) body structure. Optional in some markets are the Adaptive Cruise Control and CMBS systems, which use millimetre wave radar to detect and help reduce the risk of collisions.

The chassis of the Honda Legend has also received some attention to further enhance the Honda Legend’s rock solid, yet entertaining handling. Although the very advanced SH-AWD system remains unchanged the settings for the suspension have been altered to improve the ride and handling.

The already well equipped Honda Legend gets some more revisions to compliment the new model. Rear seat passengers can now enjoy the benefits of heated seats, while the Bose Audio system now has a USB socket, to enable the easy connection of an iPod.

Ultimate Rally Car Collection Hits the Block

10:46, 2008-Sep-1 .. 0 comments .. Link

For all rally car racing fanatics, here is something that might interest you. When UK automotive brokers Morris and Welford describe ex Audi Sport UK boss David Sutton's collection of racecars as the 'Ultimate Rally Car Collection', it is a vast understatement. Not surprisingly, this mix of cars is heavy on Audi Quattro racecars, but it also includes icons like the Lancia Stratos and Lotus Cortina - performance benchmarks like the Ford Escort RS200.  The downside: You gotta pay to play. It is the intent of the collection owners to sell it as a whole, so... for now... adding these cars to your garage or museum are an all or nothing affair.

In the eighties, the late David Sutton owned the company that prepared rally cars for Audi UK. It turns out he was collecting cars at the same time as he was preparing them, and putting them in his Historic Motors Ltd museum. The assortment includes seven Audis, some of which are Group B monsters, as well as an RS200 Cosworth, a couple of Lancias, a 1944 Volvo, and even a Skoda. Now the lot's being sold, 22 cars in all, through Morris & Welford. It's the kind of collection that, even if you had the time, money, and connections, would probably take you years to assemble individually. But you can have it all, right now... if you have what is likely to be an enormous sum of cash. Check out the other items on offer in the gallery.

Spy Shots of the BMW M Tuned X5 and X6

06:47, 2008-Aug-28 .. 0 comments .. Link

To all Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) fans out there, especially the BMW X5 and X6, here’s a glimpse of what BMW has in store - M tuned X5 and X6! An M version of the X5 and X6 by the BMW Motorsport Division- now that’s hot!

Despite earlier assertions to the contrary, all indications are now that BMW is preparing its first batch of M-tuned sport-utilities, including an X5 M and X6 M. Advanced-stage test mules for both have now been spied by a keen photographer right here in the United States, at BMW's Performance Center test track in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The prototype X5 and X6 M have enlarged air intakes with white LED headlamps up front and aerodynamic rear bumpers with quad pipes poking out the back. The trademark M division side gills have been camouflaged, but the exhaust notes are a reported dead giveaway: the X5 M prototype sounding like a twin-turbo V8, while the X6 M sounds more like a V10 or V12. With those big engines tuned by the BMW Motorsport Division, you bet these cars will be real damn fast. The appearance of the M-tuned crossovers on American soil instead of on the Nurburgring gives us an idea of just who BMW will be targeting with these performance sport-utes. Now with the New BMW X5 M and X6 M, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG now have a new competitor in the high performance SUV market.

For updates regarding the M tuned X5 and X6, keep posted on Autopartswarehouse.

Using Fuel Saver Products: Know what Products Work and what Doesn’t

06:29, 2008-Aug-27 .. 0 comments .. Link

With the ever increasing gas prices nowadays, motorists would do just about everything to minimize fuel consumption. As a result, these car owners resort to buying different fuel saver products. There are so many products that claim to reduce fuel consumptions. And the cost of some of these products is really heavy on the wallet. Most of the time, car owners would just buy these so called “fuel savers” with the hope of improve their car’s fuel economy, as a result, these people end up spending too much for something that does not even work.

The US EPA has tested many of these products and revealed that most of them produced no apparent improvements in a car’s fuel economy. From ignition devices, additives to mixture enhancers, these tests showed that none of them made any significant difference to fuel economy. The test also showed that the most effective products are those that teach the driver to modify his/her driving style to reduce fuel usage. With these results, it would be safe to say that these gadgets that are designed to passively modify fuel in some way are likely doomed to fail.

Hydrogen generating products are examples of effective fuel savers. These products feed hydrogen into the engine along with gasoline. These products also generate extra power and cleaner engine running, which is ideal for engines built for speed and power. Not only will these products help the driver save gas, but it will also create a cleaner burn in the engine. In terms of costs, these fuel savers can be built into systems for less than $100.

There are a lot of schemes and ways to save gas and achieve better fuel economy. There are so many hullabaloos, so many what to do’s. But ultimately, it’s all about the simple and most effective ways to minimize fuel cots. Proper awareness from the buyer is required when looking for the best fuel saver products. Looking for EPA-approved products and devices are essential in determining the best fuel saver products to use. In addition, researching what products work and what doesn’t is also necessary. When equipped with the proper information, achieving better fuel economy definitely can be done.

First Glimpse: 2010 Buick Lacrosse

11:53, 2008-Aug-26 .. 0 comments .. Link

Here is a teaser picture of what we shall expect from the 2010 Buick LaCrosse. The LaCrosse appears to be getting a very modern update, leaving virtually everything from the last model behind. The teaser shot of the grille alone is already telling us it’s shaping up to look better than the current model. Large, single-unit headlights are complimented by a very recognizable Buick grille. Also according to spies, the interior of the new LaCrosse is drastically remodeled and definitely looks to be benefiting from GM's renewed focus on interior design, with a large LCD screen, stylishly sculpted center stack, and a new breed of steering wheel-mounted controls we haven't seen before.

Along with the teaser pic of the new Buick, GM confirmed that the new LaCrosse will debut at the upcoming LA Auto Show in November. Surely, this car, the smallest of Buick sedans (for now) will be a big player in the brand’s future success. It’s nice and all to have a critically acclaimed full-size crossover in the Enclave, but more and more buyers are moving away from big CUVs into smaller vehicles at the moment, and Buick hopes they’ll move right into the new LaCrosse.

While the hood looks to be popped in the main exterior spy shot, unfortunately no photos were taken of the vehicle’s powerplant. With the Invicta concept sporting a 2.0-liter direct-injected and turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission, we would expect base versions to come equipped similarly. Another powerful and fuel-efficient possibility is the corporate direct-injected V-6, which makes as much as 304 horsepower in the CTS. With gas prices on the rise, this seems like a more palatable performance option than a V-8–powered “Super” model.

Unless GM teases us slowly with official pictures served up one at a time, we’ll have to wait until the world debut of the new LaCrosse in November at the L.A. auto show. The car is expected to go on sale next spring.

No Audi R8 Competitor from BMW

07:07, 2008-Aug-25 .. 0 comments .. Link

BMW first introduced to the world their M1 Homage Concept at the Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance in Italy in April of 2008. This was to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the BMW M1, the mid-engined homologated racer from the late 70’s and early 80’s. Rumors were circling that this will be the Audi R8’s competition. But now BMW has finally announced that they have no intention of producing a supercar to compete with the likes of the Audi R8, at least as of now.

According to Klaus Draeger, the rumors of BMW building a competition to the R8 are all wrong and that BMW has no plans to reveal a new sports car. In a recent interview he said the BMW’s major concern is the “sustainability.” Only this year 850,000 cars were equipped with the Efficient Dynamics system. Instead of producing supercars, BMW will focus on green technologies.

So, it seems that BMW will let Audi and Porsche to work on more and more supercars, while the German company will focus on efficiency and hybrid cars.

Regardless, the M1 Homage is just plain cool. The reason the car exists is to mark the 30th anniversary of the BMW M1, which to this day is still one of the most lust-worthy sports cars ever created. The original M1 was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, based on the BMW Turbo concept penned by Paul Bracq. The new M1 Homage comes straight from the BMW Group Design team.

Well, let’s just hope that BMW will change its plans in the future, and finally decide bring in to production the M1 Homage.

Spoon Sports to recreate the LHD NSX Type R for the US Market

07:42, 2008-Aug-22 .. 0 comments .. Link

Finally! American Honda fanatics might be able to have the chance to own and drive a Honda NSX Type R. To all those who are unaware, the NSX-Rs are only offered in Japan.

Honda's decision to only offer one Type-R model in the U.S. – the DC2 Integra – is still considered a crime among Hondaphiles. And of all the models that could have benefited from a serious performance injection later in life, the NSX was a prime candidate.

Thankfully, Spoon Sports, a long-time motorsport partner with Honda, will rectify the matter by converting left-hand-drive US-spec NSXs into NSX-Rs. The conversion involves a long list of modifications, including stiffer springs and shocks, larger anti-roll bars, forged 17-inch wheels, a shorter final-drive gear ratio, slotted brake rotors, flat underbody trays and a rear diffuser. Part of the NSX-R's appeal was a product of Honda's desire to keep weight in check, so in order to get as close to the JDM version's 2,800-pound curb weight, Spoon will replace the hood, rear spoiler and seats with carbon fiber pieces, fit a smaller battery, manually-adjustable mirrors, thinner rear window glass, lightweight carpets and will rip out all of the sound deadening material and replace the spare tire with a can of expanding goo.

Spoon hasn't released details on how much the conversion will cost or when it will begin taking orders, but if it has Honda's blessing on the project, expect to see the first few models on the road just ahead of the new NSX's launch in 2010.

The 2010 Pontiac G8 Sports Truck

08:32, 2008-Aug-21 .. 0 comments .. Link

The 2010 Pontiac G8 Sports Truck made its debut at the 2008 New York Auto Show. Many are excited with this new car because it resembles the good old "El Camino" of the 60s, 70s and 80s. For the die-hard fans, the "El Camino" is now back in the form of the all-new Pontiac G8 Sports Truck.

The sleek appearance of Pontiac's two-seater truck is borrowed in part from the automaker's G8 sedan, but from the middle of the roof back the sedan disappears and a truck emerges. Based on the G8 sedan, the Sport Truck has a longer wheelbase and a cargo bed (with an available soft tonneau cover). Additionally, there's 8.5 cubic feet (245 liters) interior cargo area behind the seats. Compared to the sedan, the 118.5-inch (3,009 mm) wheelbase is approximately four inches longer and the overall length is six inches longer. The cargo bed measures at 73.9-inch (1878 mm) in length and has 42.7 cubic feet (1208 L) of space while it can carry a payload of more than 1,074 pounds (488 kg) and tow a 3,500-pound (1,600 kg) trailer.

Power comes from the same 6.0L V-8 engine used in the G8 GT that delivers 361 Hp and 385 lb.-ft. (522 Nm) of torque. The V8 is matted to a 6-speed automatic transmission and according to Pontiac; it has a 0-to-60 time of 5.4 sec. The G8 sport truck rides on 18-inch aluminum wheels with a P245/45R18 summer performance tire. An optional Sports Package includes 19-inch alloys with P245/40R19 summer performance tires.

Rumors say that it will go on sale in the North American market in late 2009. Go to Autopartswarehouse to find out more.

A German Car Finishing company called Foilacar has come up with an ingenious idea for car owners who like to change the color of their car without the hassle of actually going to a paint shop.

With the latest German foil wrapping technology by Foilacar you can have your car’s color changed temporarily - without re-painting the original finish. The product claims that it will not only give different colors temporarily to your car but it will also protect the car’s lacquer against chips, abrasions and weathering. The 2009 Honda Fit

11:01, 2008-Aug-19 .. 0 comments .. Link

Honda introduced the second-generation Honda Fit at the 2008 New York Auto Show. Although the redesigned Honda Fit made its international debut last fall at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, American Honda decided to keep its version of this small city car under wraps until New York.

The new Fit is a bigger and better version of its predecessor. It now has a longer wheelbase and a wider track. The wheelbase has been increased 2 inches to 98.4 inches, while the overall length goes up 2.2 inches to 153.5 inches. The Fit is also 0.8 inch wider, while the front track is 1.4 inches wider and the rear track is 1.2 inches wider. It's surprising that the overall weight gain is a meager 22 pounds.

Also the second generation Fit's windshield has now been moved forward and the
clever triangular windows have been sculptured into the side front doors to improve driver visibility. These changes promise more interior space, meaning the cabin is now roomy and is now comparable to that of the Civic.

In Europe and Japan, the Fit is available with either a 1.3-liter or 1.5-liter inline-4 engine, but the U.S. market will get only the all-new 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine. The incorporation of i-VTEC variable valve timing helps the 1.5-liter engine produce 118 horsepower at 6,000 rpm (an improvement of 9 hp) and 107 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm (a very useful increase of 21 lb-ft). For the Fit Sport model, the automatic includes steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The wheel sizes have also increased to 15 and 16 inches.

Standard safety equipment includes anti-lock brakes, side and side-curtain air bags, and active head restraints. Electronic stability control is available.

The New Cell Phone Law – Does it Make Sense?

10:13, 2008-Jul-22 .. 0 comments .. Link

Californians are probably the people that spend the most time in their automobiles. As we all know, in Califor-nia, a car is a necessity, not a privilege. People drive everywhere. The only people you’ll see riding the bus are Mexicans and a handful of old folks and high school kids. And of course, everyone is obsessed with using their phones, especially inside their vehicles.

When I was still staying in Cali back in April, people were already talking about the new cell phone law. True enough, it was made effective last July 1. This law is set to forbid motorists from using hand-held communication devices while operating their automobiles. Basically, it is now illegal to hold a cell phone to your ear while driving. Car drivers who are found guilty will be subject to a fine of $20 for the first offense and $50 for the second. Penalty assessment fees and the citations cots could add up to as high as $76 and $190, respectively.

For drivers under the age of 18, the new law is more inflexible. The law specifies that no wireless telephone, pager, laptop, or other electronic communication device may be used while driving. Teenage drivers are far more likely to be involved in car accidents, and thus, the strictness. And by removing these potential sources of distraction, such as cell phones, the number of accidents involving teens may be reduced.

You can still use a headset though. Here’s the deal breaker: you can still use text messaging. Isn’t it absurd? People will tend to hide their cell phones while texting to prevent themselves from being seen by the police, which in turn, makes it even more dangerous. People in their late teens and early 20s are at risk, because they're far less likely to own or use headsets, and far more likely to use text messaging as an alternative.

One may think that this law is politically motivated. Politicians are well aware that there's a huge number of very powerful Californians who might pull major support from California politicians if they were to actually ban the use of cell phones while driving. At the same time, California also has plenty of voters who believe strongly that cell phones cause car accidents. I’m no expert in politics, but they should’ve done more research instead of passing an absurd law right away. That doesn’t make any sense.

Think about it, if the Politicians are that stern on implementing laws against one hand driving. Then all the things that people would tend to hold one hand while driving with the other (coffee, other drinks, and even holding someone’s hand) should also be given notice. The truth is, in most cases, bad drivers cause accidents, not exactly cell phones. Well, I just hope that this new law wouldn’t increase car accidents.

Intensify your Ignition System with Pulstar Plugs

03:15, 2008-Jul-22 .. 0 comments .. Link

The ignition system is an assembly of the internal combustion system. It is primarily responsible for generating power between the fuel and air mixture. It is made up of different parts that are responsible for the ignition process. The ignition key releases electricity from the circuits to the ignition coil. The distributor transfers all the electric force from the coil to the spark plugs and wires. As for the spark plugs, this component is essential for the vehicle to run because it routes power from the car batteries to the engine, allowing the car to function. As it generates electricity, a voltage of around 40,000 to 100,000 volts is produced. A spark plug is usually composed of a shell, insulator and a conductor. Over the years, the industry has made some improvements that produced notable gains in the spark plugs’ durability and stability. Copper clad electrodes were introduced in 1976, followed by platinum in 1983 and culminating in iridium-tipped plugs that are designed to last up to 100,000 miles. But in terms of power and efficiency, there has not been any significant improvements made, until now.

Automotive engineering has designed a new set of spark plugs that are meant to generate more power. Pulse Plugs is an innovative add-on that is virtually an upgraded version of a typical spark plug. Installation is not that hard to do since it is shaped like an ordinary spark plug so it would fit well into the component. During the ionization phase, the ignition parts all are heated from the inward voltage which causes the spark plug to waste a lot of energy. Pulse Star Plugs, on the other hand, incorporates a circuit where it stores all the heated energy. It then releases all the stored energy and sends at least 10 times more peak power than the average 50-watt spark plug can provide. More energy means better ignition and a better road performance.

Pulstar also improves the combustion process of the engine. They enable the vehicle to run on a richer mixture of fuel and air for better throttle reaction. These plugs can also drastically boost the car’s torque levels, producing up to around 4-12%. Pulstar also increases the vehicle’s horsepower, which enables the engine to generating more power for high-speed driving. Pulse Plugs are also as durable as most spark plugs; it can last for about 50,000 miles on average. They also enhance the fuel economy of the automobile by about 20%, and thus, giving it more mileage. It’s been tried and tested to all the different cars out there. From the Toyotas, Hondas and Nissans to a BMW 325i, results showed significant improvements in fuel economy, passing acceleration, peak horsepower and peak torque.

With these new innovations, Pulstar Plugs may very well be the next generation of spark plugs to hit the automotive market. The price is not that bad, around $25 per plug – that would be reasonable even if you don’t have a set of Rolex watches and dolce shirts in your closet. If you want to have that boost in your car’s ignition system, I suggest that you give this add-on a try. After all, you know you’ve always wanted to have that extra horsepower and torque so you can zoom the freeway like a madman.

Get a Corvette ZR-1 on EBAY!

04:51, 2008-Jul-10 .. 0 comments .. Link

Imagine how many Chevy dealerships are there in the United States alone. Almost 4000; yes, it is that many. However, only 338 of those will have the change to sell the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1. Being the most powerful and most expensive Corvette models ever made, of course there wouldn’t be an extensive collection of these speed demons.

With its 6.2 liter V8 engine, it can produce up to 620 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 595 pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm. Talking about one fast son of a gun. Its exotic look is also something to behold. Just by looking at its fender along can leave you at awe. With its polycarbonate window and raw carbon fiber coat, you can speed the whole day just by looking at it. But who ever thought that someone can get this baby on eBay?

Jackson Maxton Chevrolet in Worthington, OH just sold one of their two allocations on eBay for a staggering $50,100.99 over the ZR-1’s MSRP. Depending on the options selection this ZR-1 could sell as much as $163,000.00. Yes, a hundred sixty-three grand. The winner of the auction, “pacificbluewaterjimmy” has an eBay feedback over 114, so it looks like this will be a legit auction and purchase. With only 2,000 ZR-1’s being built each year, we expect the frenzy to last for a while with people paying over MSRP for this super car on a regular basis. Who ever this guy is, needless to say, he probably has a huge bank account and he wants everyone online to know that he’s getting the best car that Chevy has ever produced.

Some Tips to Minimize Fuel Costs

12:37, 2008-Jun-26 .. 0 comments .. Link

With the skyrocketing gas prices nowadays, it’s always hard maintaining an automobile. Of course you can but some enhancement parts that can help can increase your car’s fuel economy, a good idea but the costs of those accessories will just make your jaw drop. There are also other hullabaloos like fuel tablets in order to enhance fuel efficiency but its overall worth and usefulness is yet to be proven. There are so many schemes, so many what to do’s. But at the end of it all, it’s all about the simple and most effective ways to minimize your fuel costs. Let me just share some.

Car maintenance is a must. You always have to inspect the pressure of your car’s tires because low air pressure can definitely lead to higher fuel costs. Under inflated tires require more energy to begin its movement and to uphold its speed and rotation. Whether you own a sedan, a compact, a convertible or even a sports car, make sure that your vehicle and its components are in optimum condition. Have an oil change every now and then as this could certainly help your engine perform at peak levels and of course, consume less gas.

Maybe there’s something wrong about your driving style. A study conducted by a British automotive consultancy revealed that controlled acceleration is actually better and more fuel efficient than your normal conservative driving. According to the sturdy, the key for saving that much fuel is to accelerate hard until your engine reaches 2000 rpm, move up a gear, then push on the pedals until you reach the same rate. Believe it or not, an engine running at 2000 rpm is at its most efficient. So don’t be afraid to hit it up a bit. Think about it, you’ll be chugging in high speeds and saving gas at the same time. Keep it that rate though, since its benefits would not matter when it goes beyond 2000 rpm.

But the one that allows you to save even more. A little common sense wouldn’t hurt. If you’re thinking about buying your first car, it would be wise to consider buying an automobile with a low monthly payment and zero percent interest. With the steep competition from different auto manufacturers and brands, they would definitely have the best offers in the market. Also consider the car’s engine specifications. 2.0L and 1.6L 4-cylinder engines are definitely the ones you need. They have relatively high compression ratios for a powerful, yet effective performance. Think about it, you can feel the thrill of driving knowing that your car gets the most mileage out of every gallon.

Yes, gas prices are consistently increasing; it’s a reality that we should all face. After all, we couldn’t prevent these prices from going up, what we can do is perform some of these tips to make our lives a lot easier.

Everyone Loves a Civic

Who loves a Honda Civic? Everyone I must say, that includes auto thieves. More than two decades ago, Honda introduced the Civic, a small and anonymous car that competed in a market that was dominated by flashy sedans sporting ornate chrome, garish stylish treatments and acres of sheet metal. Since then, people from all over the world have fallen in love with this vehicle. With its sleek contours and an all-so affordable price range, who wouldn’t? But that obsession brings both good and bad. Reports show that the 2000 Honda Civic is the most stolen car in America last year. Now if that’s not as bad as it get, I don’t know what is.

Vehicles are stolen for a whole lot of reasons, and contrary to popular belief, the most stolen vehicles are several years old since it holds more value than some modern ones. Some vehicles are stolen and stripped for parts for various reasons. Others are stolen and resold by thieves to unsuspecting buyers. Many vehicles are stolen for joyriding and drag racing. Some are jacked for use in committing other crimes, to perpetrate insurance fraud, or for other illegitimate purposes.

Come to think of it, the Civic may not be the flashiest vehicle around, but it’s the most usable and practical. A grille in front, sheet metal contours, conservative look, dual airbags, anti lock brakes and most importantly, an automatic and a continuously variable transmission system. It doesn’t scream sports car or muscle car; instead, it basically gives a decent performance at an affordable price. It screams durability and sturdiness.

The Civic’s engine versions show a 1.6 liter, SOHC four-cylinder. The most common variety has an output of 1-6 horsepower at 6,200 rpm. Although it has a few inadequacies, this storied automobile shows that it is still way better than most of its contemporaries. It is a car for people who don’t enjoy frequenting the repair shop and its waiting rooms. It is an automobile that holds its resale value better than most of the other cars that it competes with. Car owners would definitely be drawn, needless to say.

It goes without saying that the Civic is an all-purpose ride. For those who wants some fun, for the fuel efficient junkies, for the style-conscious and even for the ones in a tight budget. Whatever your need is, this automobile offers it. Soon the flipside, if you’re going to jack up a car, you would take the one that has the parts that can be easily sold since there are a horde of Honda owners. Even if you want to use it in a drag race, just buy a few enhancement parts and you’re all set.

Does Honda care about that dubious statistic, I wouldn’t think so. I personally think that it wouldn’t affect its client base since people are all going to buy it one way or the other. As for their car insurance agents, well, let’s just say that they have their hands full unless they figure out a more effective security system for this one.

Mazda 3 - A Must-have Car for Graduating Seniors

Spring’s almost over and summer’s just right around the corner. Man, it must feel really good to finally finish that degree and get that diploma. All those days of class lectures, endless research and grueling finals weeks are done, gone, outta here. Of course, it can be bittersweet as well, depending on how you enjoyed your college life. The dorm life, frat parties, going to class drunk - those were indeed priceless moments you’re going to remember for the rest of your days.

Now it’s time to snap out of it. Yes, you are a budding professional. It’s time to step out of your comfort zone and face the real world. Of course, it pays to know you’re your parents are most probably going to give you a ride as your graduation gift. You don’t even need to think that hard. Having a Mazda3 is definitely a good kick start to your career.

With the company’s skyrocketing performance in 2007, it continues to sell in huge numbers up to this day. And when I say huge, I mean humongous. Mazda Sales have gone beyond its forecast for last year as it sold more than 1.36 million vehicles worldwide. It’s no secret that a bulk of those sales came from the Mazda3 units. One cannot deny the gorgeous style that the Mazda has, but its great reputation for reliability, quality, space and its surprising low price that continues to attract millions of followers. Numerous automotive media outlets were in unison for their praise of the Mazda3. Not to mention, this fancied vehicle also heaped plentiful awards from these outlets.

Yahoo Autos reported that in sedan form, the Mazda3 has a low base price of only $14,530 and is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces a peppy 148 horsepower while garnering an impressive EPA mileage rating of 24 city/32 highway. The very stylish 5-door may cost a seemingly steep $4000 more, but if you ask me, it is indeed money well spent. If you can dangle it, the 5-door transforms the car into a superb cargo carrier that can handle weekend outdoor and sports gear, trips to Sam’s, or haul a semester's worth of dirty laundry back to your parent's house with ease. And despite larger 2.3-liter 4-cylinder producing 156 horsepower, it still manages a very respectable 22 city/29 mpg highway.

Mazda3’s top-flight Touring editions feature components such as heated front seats, leather trim, high-intensity xenon headlights and a security system. Other options include the navigation system, Sirius satellite radio ($1950), power sunroof, and 7-speaker Bose sound system with 6-disc in-dash CD/MP3 player ($1335). With these accessories, you’re basically set to take over whichever industry you decide to enter as a young professional.

So kids, now that your good old Uni days are behind you with all the fond memories, it would be cool if you could get your hands on this baby. I’m sure your folks will love it as well. Not only would it be great to have it in your garage and on the road, the thrill of being inside of this classy vehicle would also give you the needed boost of confidence in those upcoming job interviews.
