First Glimpse: 2010 Buick Lacrosse

11:53, 2008-Aug-26 .. 0 comments .. Link

Here is a teaser picture of what we shall expect from the 2010 Buick LaCrosse. The LaCrosse appears to be getting a very modern update, leaving virtually everything from the last model behind. The teaser shot of the grille alone is already telling us it’s shaping up to look better than the current model. Large, single-unit headlights are complimented by a very recognizable Buick grille. Also according to spies, the interior of the new LaCrosse is drastically remodeled and definitely looks to be benefiting from GM's renewed focus on interior design, with a large LCD screen, stylishly sculpted center stack, and a new breed of steering wheel-mounted controls we haven't seen before.

Along with the teaser pic of the new Buick, GM confirmed that the new LaCrosse will debut at the upcoming LA Auto Show in November. Surely, this car, the smallest of Buick sedans (for now) will be a big player in the brand’s future success. It’s nice and all to have a critically acclaimed full-size crossover in the Enclave, but more and more buyers are moving away from big CUVs into smaller vehicles at the moment, and Buick hopes they’ll move right into the new LaCrosse.

While the hood looks to be popped in the main exterior spy shot, unfortunately no photos were taken of the vehicle’s powerplant. With the Invicta concept sporting a 2.0-liter direct-injected and turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission, we would expect base versions to come equipped similarly. Another powerful and fuel-efficient possibility is the corporate direct-injected V-6, which makes as much as 304 horsepower in the CTS. With gas prices on the rise, this seems like a more palatable performance option than a V-8–powered “Super” model.

Unless GM teases us slowly with official pictures served up one at a time, we’ll have to wait until the world debut of the new LaCrosse in November at the L.A. auto show. The car is expected to go on sale next spring.
